Saint George in the stone of Artsakh
The Church of Saint George the Victorious is one of the Armenian Christian historical and cultural monuments of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). The church is dedicated to Saint George — the revered defender and slayer of evil whose name, in the Armenian tradition, is linked to the protection of those who travel and those who fight.
The pagan temple of Garni, the Garni gorge with its basalt «Symphony of Stones», and Geghard — a 4th-century monastery carved into the rock. Lunch with lavash baking in a tonir.

Like many churches in the region, the building is raised from local stone and keeps the restrained, austere beauty of Armenian architecture. There is no excess ornament here — only clean lines, the silence beneath the vaults, and a deep sense of antiquity that you feel the moment you step inside.

An off-roader, driver-guides, and access to places an ordinary car can’t reach: Satani Kar (the natural bridge), the Vorotan gorge, hot springs.

From Yerevan to this place a car or transfer is the most convenient — public transport reaches most Armenian places rarely. Plan a day for the road plus at least half a day for the place itself.
